Vitualization
virtualization is a software technology by which it is possible to run multiple operating system on the same device or server at the same time. it is one of the efficient way and reduced costs of multiple system setup.
virtualizations is a very helpful when you need to demonstrate something between two different operating systems. for EX,A Malware target Windows machine can we ran parallel to the attacker Linux machine and it will be much easier to analyze the behaviour.

virtualization software
special software is developed the first virtualization. These software are designed to run multiple operating systems at the same instant on the same system.
Some commonly used virtualization software
1.Vm Ware workstation : (Download : http://www.vmware.com/in/products/workstation )
2.virtual box : (Download : http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads)
.using vmware workstation:
1.download and install VmWare Workstation.
2.open VMware Workstation & click on "create virtual machine."
3.choose the image files of operating system or application.
4.choose the name of operating system or application and select it's version.
5.provide hard drive space for virtual machine (min.required :20 GB )and click on finish.
6.virtual machine is ready to use start from the home screen of VmWare Workstation.
kali linux
Kali Linux is a Linux based operating system which is a powerful and most popular hacking OS itself. it is used to perform penetration testing and vulnerability assessment.
Kali Linux is a derived from BackTrack distribution. Kali Linux is a developed by offensive security.

installing Kali Linux as virtual machine
. open VmWare & click on create virtual machine.
. now locate image file of Kali Linux give it name Kali and choose UBUNTU as OS type.
.Give 20-30 hard drive space for Kali Linux virtual machine.
.Start Kali Virtual Machine. while booting, it will show some option like live (forensic mode)/install/graphical install.
.if you want to test Kali Linux environment then just click on life forensics mode Else install it in virtual machine by click on graphical install.
. Follow these steps for graphical install:
i. choose desired language.
ii.select country tertitary or area
iii.choose keymap (keyboard layour will vary for different keymap.)
iv. configure the network and set up user Account.
V. choose manual partitioning and select the desired partition.
Vi. After that system will install and become ready to use.
